Chris Hani was an ANC leader, the head of the ANC's military wing Umkhonto we Sizwe, and the head of the South African Communist Party; he was assassinated on 10 April 1993 in Dawn Park, on the East Rand; in the transition period before the first elections to form a democratic South Africa.
